Strike A Chord delivered by Sunrise Studios, part of regional charity Access Community Trust, is an exciting new opportunity for 12-19 year olds that live in Waveney to create, produce and professionally record their own music.

The project sessions will be co-produced with young people alongside our Music

Leader, youth workers and volunteers, taking place within The Junction, a new safe and welcoming space in Lowestoft.

Throughout the project guitars, drums, keyboards, production software and professional recording/performance equipment will be available, and the team will also support participants in building their confidence to perform live, as well as looking at how music benefits our mental health.

Joshua Freemantle, Development Producer at Access Community Trust said:

“We’re proud to be launching Strike A Chord and continuing our important work supporting young people in our communities and bringing out the best in young people facing barriers who might not otherwise have this opportunity. Our mission is to give participants the tools, time and support they need to achieve their musical goals, through individual and group projects which will form our end of project album.”

Matt Griffiths, Youth Music CEO said:

“It’s crucial we enable more young people to make, learn and earn in music, whatever their background or goal. That’s why we’re excited to invest in Access Community Trust, an organisation leading the way in equalising access to music by putting young people’s voices front and centre.”

Drop-in taster sessions will also be taking place this month on Tuesday 23 May from 6pm to 8pm and Thursday 25 May 4pm to 6pm, where you’ll be able to meet the team and check out the space and equipment on offer.

This project is backed by Youth Music, thanks to the National Lottery via Arts Council England, and you can find out more information and apply by visiting https://sunriselowestoft.com/strike-a-chord

ABOUT SUNRISE STUDIOS

  • Sunrise Studios is a social enterprise part of the regional charity Access Community Trust, a community production company like no other, that delivers value & social benefit, through investment in young people within media & music by reinvesting profits made through commercial services and generous support from founders.

ABOUT YOUTH MUSIC

  • We are Youth Music. We’re the UK’s leading young people’s music charity. And we believe that every young person should have the chance to make, learn and earn in music and wider creativity. Yet our research shows that many can’t because of who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through. We leverage our insights, investment, and influence to build a national grassroots infrastructure that ensures the future of music is more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible. Youth Music is a national charity funded thanks to the National Lottery via Arts Council England, players of People’s Postcode Lottery and support from partners, fundraisers and donors.
